Have you heard of the ideas of Primary Food or Secondary Food? Primary Food is an all encompassing idea of something that feeds us, but that something does not come on a plate. These are our relationships, finances, spirituality, exercise, lifestyle, career, environment, etc. If these aspects of our life are thriving, our Secondary Food, which is actual food becomes less of a stressor. The more Primary Food we receive, create, and maintain, the less we depend on secondary food, which might be filling some of our voids. The more balanced and satiated you are in your Primary Food, the better your life will feed you.
Of course, Secondary Food has a big impact on how you feel day to day. It is important to have a well balanced diet that incorporates more nutritious foods and ample hydration. Eating a healthy diet is not about what can we take away, it is about what can we add in. The more you fill up on healthy, green, and nutritious foods, the less room there is for the not so good stuff. Take the time to think about what areas of Primary Food might need a little more attention. Focus on adding more nutritious foods to your diet, and in turn this will help crowd out the bad stuff.
